In 2018, 59 new molecular entities were approved by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA). These new drugs help patients suffering from many different medical conditions and have the potential to improve quality of life and chances of surviving life-threatening illnesses. It is essential that pharmacists become familiar with new medications and their use in therapy. This session reviews several of the key new drugs from 2018 and 2019 to increase the knowledge base for pharmacists and technicians. Participants will learn to recognize the risks and benefits of these new medications to safely dispense, better counsel patients, advise providers, and ensure proper use.
