For the past 11 years, Kidest-Mimi Demesse (Mimi) has been a member of the North Texas VA Clinical Pharmacist Specialist team. Mimi first became interested in pharmacy at a young age after shadowing her uncle who was a pharmacist in the Navy clinic in Ethiopia. Having a father who served in the Air Force , uncle in the Navy and numerous family members in the Army, Mimi valued the concept of serving those who have served. Mimi loves working at the VA and holds the VA’s mission and core values very near to her heart.
Mimi Demesse received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas and worked for Merck-Medco mail order pharmacy . Afterwards, she attended South University in Savannah, Georgia where she graduated with her Pharmacy Degree in 2009 . She has experience in Inpatient rehab where she worked as a Clinical Pharmacist at Health South Plano Rehabilitation Hospital after graduation. Mimi has completed her ASHP-Accredited PGY-1 Residency at the VA and joined the clinical team working as Clinical Pharmacist Specialist in the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) team and currently in the Anticoagulation Clinic . Mimi is a preceptor for the PGY1 residents as well as students. She has been involved with quality improvement projects, and works on several projects to enhance the VA North Texas Anticoagulation Clinic program.
