The goal of this presentation is to provide guidance to leaders, pharmacists, and technicians at Military Treatment Facilities (MTF) on several Defense Health Agency (DHA) Formulary Management topics. One-half of the presentation will focus on basic Formulary Management topics, such as Medical Necessity (MN) and Prior Authorization (PA) criteria, the Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS Over-the-Counter (OTC) List, medical versus pharmacy benefit, and navigation of websites and resources. The other half of the presentation will expand on the basic topics presented, to an intermediate level, including topics such as Real Time Benefits Check, management of MN and PA appeals, aligning with the MHS GENESIS OTC List, and navigation of more complex websites and resources. Basic and intermediate topics will be interwoven together throughout the presentation. During the question and answer period, the speakers will entertain basic, intermediate, and advanced formulary management questions
Discuss how the Department of Defense (DoD) Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) and formulary management process works in order to navigate it, understand how it impacts the patient, and aid in implementation at the local Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
