In 2017, the Department of Defense (DOD) went live with MHS GENESIS, a commercial off the shelf electronic health record to replace CHCS, AHLTA, and Essentris. The replacement system provides both an inpatient and outpatient pharmacy module and will include new technologies for the DOD, such as inventory management, barcode medication administration, and controlled substance electronic-prescribing. This presentation will discuss the current state of implementation across the MHS and other federal agencies, the improvements since the initial go-live, and the future state of the MHS GENESIS project.
