Major Ryan C. Costantino, PharmD, MS, BCPS, BCGP is the Director of the Data Innovation Branch within the Defense Healthcare Management Systems Program Executive Office. MAJ Costantino serves on active duty in the Army with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Health Service Research, and a Master of Science in Palliative Care. He completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at the University of Maryland (UM) Medical Center, a PGY-2 Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacy Residency at the UM School of Pharmacy along with a Palliative Care Fellowship. He serves as the clinical analytic expert and senior advisor to DHA leadership and the Pharmacy Consultants from the Army, Navy and Air Force on pharmacy quality assessment, pharmacy outcomes, and predictive analytics. Dr. Costantino leverages his extensive clinical, informatics, and decision support knowledge in the leadership, design, and implementation of data analytic tools used to measure the quality, quantity, and clinical effectiveness of full spectrum medical care.
Ryan currently serves as the Chair of the Clinical Sciences Section within the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Pharmaceutical Research and Science and is a member of the Society of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacists. Ryan is an active writer and researcher having authored several book chapters and peer reviewed articles on pain management, palliative care, and healthcare quality. He also serves as a reviewer for several academic journals including Pain Medicine and Military Medicine.
