New Drugs of 2017

Description

Stay up to date on the newly approved drugs in 2017, including their indications for use, routes of administration, and associated precautions. An overview of significant new therapeutic agents will include essential information regarding the role of the new drugs and include pertinent considerations related to their management. This presentation compares new drugs with existing agents including efficacy, safety, patient education, and practical monitoring considerations.

Pharmacist Learning Objectives

At the completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. List new therapeutic agents that were approved by the Food and Drug Administration in 2017.
  2. Describe the pharmacology and indications for new therapeutic drugs.
  3. Compare and contrast the new agents with similar drugs in terms of efficacy and safety.
  4. Discuss important patient education and therapeutic monitoring parameters for new therapeutic agents.
  5. Summarize the adverse effects and patient safety considerations for these new agents.
