The Joint Commission's Standard on Antimicrobial Stewardship

Description

This presentation focuses on The Joint Commission's Medication Management Standard, MM.09.01.01, requiring hospitals, critical access hospitals and nursing care centers to have an antimicrobial stewardship program based on current scientific literature. Survey process for antimicrobial stewardship, including the medication management system tracer and patient tracers, will be discussed. In addition, the concept of high-reliability in health care will be addressed as it relates to antimicrobial stewardship. The roles of leadership and pharmacists is discussed with emphasis on Standard MM.09.01.01's elements of performance.
